About Barby Pre-School
Barby Pre-School is a happy, friendly setting located in the Village Hall and at the heart of our rural community. We work hard to serve the needs of children and their families from a large surrounding area. We take children from the age of 2 and we currently offer places for 25 children.
The children are cared for by qualified staff. We maintain a ratio of adults to children which is 1 to 8 children over the age of 3 and 1 adult to 4 children under 3. In addition, we also have parent helpers when appropriate to complement these ratios.
We pride ourselves on doing our very best to meet the individual needs of each child. We aim to help all children in our setting to achieve their best, encouraging them through fun and play.
The Pre-School is based in Barby Village Hall which is located in the centre of the village and has its own car parks. You can find us on our Contact Us page. We have strong links with the Barby Primary School and visit them several times during the year as well as including a visit in our children’s final year with us to introduce them to the next stage of their education. We also have a Mother and Tots group for children under 2 which meets once a week in the Village Hall and this provides an ideal introduction to the Pre-School environment. Details of all the activities which take place in the village can be found on the Parish Council website.
The Pre-school is registered and inspected by OFSTED Early Years.
The Voluntary Management Committee
We are a registered charity with a voluntary management committee. The committee manages the setting, with members who are elected from the parents of the children attending the pre-school. Elections take place at the Annual General Meeting in September.
The committee is responsible for:
- Managing the setting finances;
- Employing and managing the staff;
- Ensuring the setting adheres to the policies that ensures a high quality service;
- Ensuring the setting works in partnership with the children’s parents/carers.
If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Martin House (Acting Chair) on 0771 324 9074 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Having a Mascot is an excellent way of welcoming children into the setting, getting them excited about what they discover during their sessions and sharing their experiences from home and pre-school.
Edward the elephant is our Mascot. He loves to visit the children at home and enjoys listening to their favourite stories. During his stay he likes to choose a special story, which he and your child can share with their friends when they return to pre-school.
"My twins just settled in at pre-school so perfectly!"
